Field Action Projects

  • Disha - Disha is a project to promote positive attitude among the adolescents. The project is implemented in schools in the urban areas of Bhopal. The students are given input session on positive attitude, its importance and the way to achieve an optimistic approach in life. Social work trainees visit the project area and offer Social case work and group work services.


  •  Jagriti- A project to fight the child right issues in the country. Initiated in the year 2014 it has covered various dimensions of the child related issues such as child labour, child abuse, abduction, trafficking. The main objective of the project is to sensitize the general public about the gravity of the child related problem in the society and their role in mitigating the issue of the child abuse. The various medium used by the team are subject and area focussed street plays at various points of the city, interview and talk shows of child right activist through BSSS Rhythm.


  • Umeed- A ray of Hope-The project mainly focuses on the importance of education and to reduce the dropout rate among the school going children. As part of this initiative lot of programmes are organized on every literacy day in various schools.


Collaborative Project

BSSS- m-Mitra Project- The Department of Social Work has collaborated with Arman – NGO (CSR venture of Aditya Birla Group) to create the database of pregnant women and nursing mothers to sensitize them regarding the requirements and importance of antenatal, prenatal and postnatal care. The project was implemented in 12 slums of Bhopal in the first phase. In the current phase (Phase-II) it has a target to cover 110 slums in the urban areas of Bhopal. The project provides alert & reminder call services to women for enhancing their health and wellbeing. Social Work students are involved as Sakhi ambassadors in the project to promote and materialize “Earn while you learn” concept.



Earn while you learn

The advanced learners of theSocial Work students  are given the opportunity to join various extension projects (ISR ventures) initiated by the department as student coordinators as well as outreach workers. This helps them to earn and learn which in turn enhance their self esteem and to strive for heights with ethical know how.




Digital Financial Literacy Programme

The department of Social Work in collaboration with ANWC has launched a Digital Financial literacy Programme in 100 villages in 3 blocks of Sehore District. The project is funded by NABARD.

Research initiatives

  • The Department of Social Work-BSSS did the Mapping and Review of 38 Childcare Institutions in 11 districts of Madhya Pradesh (2015-16). The institution was one of the State Coordinating Agencies (SCA) for the execution of the study. The project was funded by Ministry of women and Child Development, New Delhi with Childline India Foundation (CIF) as the Principle recipient. The review was conducted as per the instruction from the Honourable Supreme Court of India. 
  • The Department of Social Work is undertaking the Training Need Assessment (TNA) of Frontline workers (ASHA/USHA and Anganwadi) in 11 Area Development Projects (ADPs) in Madhya Pradesh & Chattisgarh.
