BEYOND THE CURRICULUM
Education Beyond Curriculum: Our mission statement focuses on the integrated development of students. This is clearly visible in the emphasis on co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Active participation in these programmes helps to develop, nurture and hone the qualities and skills of conceptualization, innovativeness, entrepreneurship, critical thinking and analysis social service, leadership, organization, co-ordination, teamwork and implementation.

In addition to such academic skills, other skills such as communication skills, computing skills, life coping skills, creative skills, performing skills, sports and games are emphasized through various committees and programmes.

NSS - The National Service Scheme
The National Service Scheme (NSS) provides an opportunity for students to channellise their talents and skills in the service of society. It teaches the dignity of human labour and the significance of disciplined life and works to instil in students the spirit of patriotism and proactive responsibility for the community. The work done by the student volunteers is recognised and certified by the University.

The BSSS has been allotted two units of the NSS by Barkatullah University and the Ministry for Youth Affairs; Government of M.P. the college has been consistently serving the society by:

  • Organizing blood donations, cleanliness programmes, anti-plastic campaigns; 
  • Developing basic infrastructure facilities such as drainage, road, public meeting platforms in backward villages; 
  • Planting and looking after over 350 tree saplings in the College campus and outside; 
  • Sensitising people to cleanliness, equality of sexes, significance of education and AIDS and communicable diseases.
  • Reaching out through rural camps, nukkad nataks and awareness programs.
  • All registered students of the college are eligible to enrol as NSS volunteers.

NCC The National Cadet Corps 
The NCC unit of the college imparts quality training to boys and inculcates in them the qualities of leadership, unity and discipline. Active participation in the NCC also opens new vistas of learning and empowers students in the face of the socio-economic challenges of our times.
The unit actively trains students and has made the college and city proud by its association at the National level in parades and camps.

The Management Association
The Association aims at improving the managerial skills of the students and acquainting them with the global business scenario. Membership is open for all students of Management faculty. 

The association conducts workshops and seminars, arranges field visits to different industrial units and training programs, organizes quizzes, group discussions and panel discussions, product and advertising development competitions to keep students abreast with the current trends in the business world.

Commerce Club
The Commerce club is a forum that is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the multinational environment. The club, under the guidance of a staff coordinator attempts to provide a comprehensive understanding of the cultural, financial, geographical, political, national and international economic issues that affect commercial activities. Moreover the club regularly organizes programmes like extension lectures, seminars and interactive sessions.

Sports Club
This club, spearheaded by the Physical Education Department conducts regular sports activities, practice sessions and competitions at the intra college and intercollegiate levels. 

Cultural Forum
The cultural forum recognizes the diversity of cultures that make BSSS a true melting pot of ideas and opinions. The forum works to inculcate Indian traditions, culture and values, to recognize talent and provide a platform for the students to enhance confidence. The forum works through cultural competitions, Youth festival, Fete, Annual functions, Traditional Day and Cultural week

College educational tours 
The college organizes educational tours for all faculties annually to help students connect with real life functions and situations in industries, institutions and agencies. Students spend about a week at various destinations across the country and learn through shared responsibility and exposure to new experiences.

Literary Society and Communication Forum
The Literary Society is one of the oldest activity groups functioning in the college. It was envisaged to provide to the students of BSSS a platform wherein they could express their ideas and opinions and learn from the interaction with other minds .It reflected the founding aim of this institution of facilitating critical thinking and creativity.
Apart from the annual inter college competitions, the society organizes word games, group discussions, personality games, screening of movie classics, debate, open forums, wall journals and many other interactive activities.

Quiz Club
The club aims at enhancing and assessing student awareness and understanding of the world around them. Every year a fresher quiz is organized for the first year students along with inter collegiate Quiz competitions. The college team represents the college in inter collegiate Quiz competitions organized by other colleges and the University

I T Club
To hone the potential of a hugely IT aware student group the club works towards providing a platform for student interaction and view sharing, increasing proficiency in the field of I.T. and helping students in keeping pace with the latest technological developments. Its many activities also offer students an opportunity to be acquainted with the IT market and the industry especially with a view to a variety of cutting edge career options.

Nature club 
The nature club gives a human face to the present environmental issues and empower students to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development of nature. The club celebrates the green day and organizes events and activities to sensitize the student community towards the conservation of nature.

National Festivals
BSSS celebrates Republic Day and Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervor. The occasion is marked by activities that bring the students together in a shared sense of responsibility towards the nation. Tree plantations, community service, cultural programs that reflect India's diversity and competitive events that blend youthful enthusiasm and patriotism form a part of our nation building activities.

Value Education
The aim of education at BSSS is to prepare students not only for examinations but also for responsibilities of life. College life being an important formative experience, study of subjects and courses must be supplemented with meaningful value education.
At BSSS we bring up a student community that is morally conscientious and aware. We help students prepare to face the challenges and realities of modern society and its culture by the use of various fora like the inter religious dialogue, regular formal and informal student teacher interaction and the use of the audio visual media especially the making of a film on value education. 

Museum 
The BSSS museum brings to the college a slice of world culture through the many artifacts that it houses. It reflects our diversity and broadens the world vision of our students.
