Dear Parents and New Admittees,
We’ve often spoken and debated about the way we run the college. Some students say it feels like a school — too strict, too time-bound, too academic — and many such things. Honestly, I too have sometimes wondered about the kind of discipline we expect from our college students, who are quite mature, after all. But the management’s viewpoint is different from the students', and in many ways, closer to that of the parents.
Over the years, the image of BSSS has evolved — from the time of my predecessor, Dr Fr Joseph PP, to what it is today: a place known for academic excellence along with meaningful co-curricular learning. And yes, we continue to believe in freedom — but always with responsibility and that justifies our so-called school-like approach.
The beginning of this academic year — the admission season — felt like a festival on campus. Thousands of parents and their wards visited us, registering for admission. There indeed was a bit of a slowdown in registrations post-COVID, though not in actual admissions. But this year saw an overwhelming response from the common public. What does that say? It simply reaffirms that the system we follow appeals to people, it is appreciated and trusted and that's why they want their children to study here at BSSS.
Word-of-mouth publicity from our alumni and their parents has played a big role in reinforcing the strengths of this institution. And of course, how can we forget our dedicated staff who live BSSS — both on campus and beyond? It’s often the satisfaction and commitment of our teachers that spread out positively into the community. And as a result, it’s heartwarming to see the college steadily growing over the years, with a consistent, upward journey.
Yes, we did face some hiccups in the beginning — late admissions and confusion about subjects due to the semester system introduced by the MP Higher Education which we had the privilege to adopt being an A+ Graded Autonomous Institution. But with the kind of determination we work with, I’m confident we’ll overcome those initial teething hurdles and complete the syllabus on time.
Thank you, dear parents, for trusting us, for believing in our ethos, and for admitting your wards to this college. We will continue to do our part and meet your expectations — until each student’s dream has fully blossomed. Dear students, we’re glad to have you with us. Let’s grow together — with purpose, passion, and pride. God bless you!
Dr Fr John P J
Principal, BSSS
