B.Com Students Receive Practical Knowledge of Personal Finance

The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS) organized a guest lecture titled "Rising Minds: Financial Literacy Initiative for Youth" for B.Com students studying Applied Economics. The session was organized by Dr. Gaurav Atri.
The lecture was delivered by CS Divyanshu Tiwari, Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and Compliance Officer and Company Secretary at Star Delta Transformers Limited. He introduced students to the fundamentals of budgeting, saving, investing, borrowing, and financial planning. Students were introduced to practical, reliable financial tools such as the 50/20/30 budgeting framework, emergency funds, Systematic Investment Plans (SIP), and Public Provident Fund (PPF). In addition, the session covered understanding financial risk and the responsible use of credit facilities.
The session also shed light on earning opportunities for students through content writing, graphic design, tutoring, internships, and content creation. Emphasizing the importance of good financial habits, CS Tiwari encouraged students to track expenses, automate savings, avoid impulsive spending, and set SMART financial goals.
Dr. Gaurav Atri stated that this session helped students connect classroom learning with real-life financial decision-making and responsible money management.
