Dear Parents and Students, 

As is said, in the wink of an eye, the Academic Year 2023-24 is almost over! Often it happens, that when one is busy and working, time also pace fast enough. Good that everyone is busy and we are advancing steadily into the knowledge era. 

The landscape of education is evolving, marked by new study paradigms. Honours programs now span four years, incorporating research, while post-graduation is going to be condensed to a year. BBA and BCA are taken over by AICTE as technical/ professional courses, addressing the longstanding debate on the topic amidst the academic fraternity. True, it is better to be late than never! BSSS is maintaining a progressive pace with all these policy changes at government level without any lag. To reiterate, we were the pioneer Private Autonomous institution in Central India to implement Semester System as per NEP 2020 having the privilege of NAAC A + grade. 

Infrastructure and faculty stand out as crucial elements during the time of these major transformational shifts in the educational system. However, due to our location in a BHEL Licensed land, expanding infrastructure poses many challenges. The tax tariffs are prohibitively high, making it financially unfeasible. Additionally, time constraints further complicate the situation. Nonetheless, this transition needs to be borne well so as to carve an even better future. We are ready!   

Under these circumstances, the College Management is now considering to implement an additional shift for Third-year students. We did conduct a preliminary study on the number of students attending Coaching classes for various Competitive exams and the respective timings. It is observed that there is an equal distribution of students attending morning and evening Coaching classes, although the overall percentage remains below 50. However, we were intimated that students have the freedom to choose their coaching centres and can request changes in the timings, if necessary. In any case, we haven't been as stringent with attendance monitoring for third-year students compared to first and second years, primarily due to these factors. 

I take this platform to inform all the concerned parents and students of the present Second Year, who will be in Third Year from 2024 - 25, that we shall have a Second Shift running for the Third years from 2: 30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. from the coming Academic Year w.e.f. July 2024.  

 We further plan to commence the classes of Third year from 1^st July and conduct examinations in the month of November. This arrangement shall facilitate their preparations for competitive examinations. They will have the Project studies in their Fifth Semester and Internship in the Sixth Semester, tailored to their departmental interests. A partial hybrid mode of instruction (as per UGC guidelines) is under consideration to improve attendance, particularly for Third-year students. 

I also want to let you know that we are considering implementing Honours programs for all undergraduate programs offered at the college, subject to sufficient enrollment and feasibility. We stand privileged indeed to offer the Honours courses to our students.
