Session Held on 'Healing Through Expressive Arts' at BSSS
A special session on "Healing Through Expressive Arts" was organized by the Department of Psychology at the Management Conference Hall of The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS). The event was held under the Happiness Initiative in collaboration with the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness, which was established by Dr. Satinder Singh Rekhi and his wife Harpreet Rekhi to promote happiness science, positive psychology, and academic partnerships across universities.
The program began with a welcome address by BSSS Principal Dr. Fr. John P.J., who highlighted the significance of genuine happiness in student life, emphasizing that true joy stems from inner contentment, meaningful connections, purposeful living, and positive experiences rather than superficial achievements. During the event, a badge pinning ceremony was conducted to appoint selected students as Happiness Club Ambassadors, who will work to foster positive thinking, active participation, and well-being among their peers.
The main session was led by Dr. Jyoti, who initiated the program with a hand-raising activity to gauge the energy and participation level of the audience. She then explored the connection between creative expression, emotional healing, and self-awareness. Students engaged in an interactive exercise where they drew their thoughts using a random object as inspiration, allowing them to express their emotions and ideas through creative, non-verbal mediums.
The workshop concluded with active student participation, providing them an opportunity to understand the relationship between creative expression, emotional well-being, and self-reflection.
