Arthakalyan: Social Outreach Visit to Apna Ghar Old Age Home

Department of Economics, The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS), Bhopal, successfully organised a Social Outreach Visit to Apna Ghar Old Age Home on 28th September 2026 under its flagship social outreach initiative, “Arthakalyan.” Students of BA Economics actively participated in the outreach programme and spent meaningful time interacting with the residents of the old age home. The programme included engaging conversations, recreational activities, fun games, music, and moments of companionship, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere for the residents. The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to understand the importance of empathy, compassion, social responsibility, and community engagement. The interaction with the elderly residents offered the students meaningful insights into the value of companionship, care, and human connection beyond the classroom. The outreach programme was successfully conducted with the enthusiastic participation of the students and reflected the Department's commitment to fostering social sensitivity, responsible citizenship, and meaningful community engagement among its students. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Rasmeet Kaur Malhi, Head, Department of Economics, and Ms. Priyanka Lalla, Assistant Professor and Teacher In-Charge for the social outreach program.
