Under the joint auspices of Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi, a 15-day multidisciplinary refresher course titled 'Transforming Education in the Era of NEP-2020' was inaugurated at The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS).
The program began with the lighting of the lamp. Welcoming everyone, the Principal of the college, Dr. Father John P.J., said in his address that NEP-2020 is an important step towards ideal education. This is not just a policy, but a vision to change the education system. Professor Vimal Rarh, Director of UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, emphasized the role of teachers in her address. She said, 'In the era of NEP, a teacher is not just a lecturer, but a facilitator. We have to focus on skill-based, aptitude, and value-based courses. Rubrics assessment should happen at every moment. Our goal is to prepare youth possessing ideal citizenship and professional competency.
Lesson plans should not just be a formality but should become proper guidelines. Outcome-based education is most important today.' Sharing deep insights, keynote speaker and former Chairman of UGC, Professor Ved Prakash, said, 'We have to ask ourselves why we do not consider humans as humans? The basic objective of education is to keep humanity alive. NEP-2020 is based on the principles of shared citizenship and equality in diversity.' Dr. Samar Bahadur Singh from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, said, 'No one is perfect. Programs like refresher courses enhance the knowledge, motivation, and capability of teachers. It is necessary for teachers to remain updated to deal with the challenges of the 21st century.' The details of the 15-day course were presented by Dr. Jerolina Fernandes. She informed that during this period, sessions will be organized on topics like multidisciplinary approach, Academic Bank of Credits, digital learning, and research-based teaching.
