Green Roots, Bright Future: NSS Volunteers Undertake Tree Plantation Drive, Spread Message of Environmental Conservation

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of The Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS) successfully organized a tree plantation drive on 5 August 2026 on the college campus under the theme “Green Roots, Bright Future.”

The main objective of the programme was to raise awareness about environmental conservation, promote a greener environment, and encourage young people to recognize their responsibility towards nature.

As part of the initiative, NSS volunteers planted various species of trees on the college campus, including Bonsai Neem, Anar, Peepal, Neem, Amrud, Kalmī Aam, Santra, Sitaphal and Ashok. The volunteers also took a pledge to protect and regularly care for the plants.

Under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, volunteers were encouraged to plant a tree at their homes as well and share its photograph, thereby becoming part of a wider public movement for environmental conservation. The initiative aimed to extend the campaign beyond the college campus and connect every household with the green movement.

NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically and conveyed the message of environmental protection. The programme was successfully conducted under the guidance of Programme Officers Dr. D.B. Singh (Boys’ Unit) and Dr. Naina Singh (Girls’ Unit).

The initiative proved to be an inspiring step towards strengthening the values of nature conservation, social responsibility, and sustainable development, while motivating NSS volunteers to fulfil their responsibilities towards the environment.
