Bhopal: The Department of Humanities at the Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS), in collaboration with the Pandit Kunjilal Dubey National Parliamentary Vidyapeeth, Bhopal, successfully organized a comprehensive two-day training program on parliamentary affairs and legislative procedures. The initiative aimed to provide students with practical insights into legislative governance, financial administration, and contemporary policy-making processes.
The program commenced with an inaugural day filled with knowledge-enriching lectures by renowned academicians and government officials. Professor Roma Mukherjee from the Government Law College introduced students to the constitutional framework, structure, and operations of the State Legislature. Following this, Shri Milind Waiker, Additional Secretary of the Finance Department (Government of Madhya Pradesh), explained the intricacies of public budgeting and financial management. The sessions concluded with Shri Anurag Shrivastava, a former Indian Forest Service officer, discussing the integration of emerging technologies in legislative processes, and Professor Dr. Madhavi Verma highlighting the growing relevance and skill sets required for Artificial Intelligence.
On the second day, the training shifted toward experiential learning with an educational tour of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, allowing students to observe the assembly hall and its institutional infrastructure firsthand. The educational sessions continued with Professor Dr. Kusum Dixit Chouhan from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, who conducted an insightful class on the Right to Information (RTI) Act, transparency in governance, and the role of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The event concluded with a valedictory address by IAS officer Shri Sudhir Kochar, who delivered an engaging lecture on parliamentary instruments like Question Hour, Zero Hour, Calling Attention Motions, and Adjournment Motions, while also sharing valuable guidance on mental health and career development.
