Youth gain practical experience under the leadership of DIG Vineet Kapoor
The Social Work Department of the Bhopal School of Social Sciences (BSSS), in collaboration with the Bhopal Police Department, successfully organized a community policing internship from January 12 to 19, 2026.
The internship was part of two certificate courses currently being conducted at BSSS in partnership with the police department. The primary objective was to provide students with a practical understanding of police operations and the concept of community policing.
The program commenced with an orientation session at Parimal Bhawan, where students were briefed on the structure of the police department and the fundamental concepts of community service in law enforcement. The session was graced by the presence of IPS Dr. Vineet Kapoor (DIG, MP Police and Academic Expert in Justice and Human Rights) and Shri Meena (AIG, Community Policing).
During the internship, students visited several key departments and stations to observe real-world operations, including:
Dr. Ritwik Gandhe, Head of the Social Work Department at BSSS, stated that students had the opportunity to interact with TI Shri Rathore and SSP Ms. Aditi B. Saxena. These interactions provided deep insights into women's safety, cybercrime, emergency services, and modern policing techniques.
A total of 35 students participated in this program. The internship was coordinated by Mr. Jitendra Yadav and Ms. Anushka Tiwari, with Mr. Atul Vishwakarma (Faculty, Social Work Department) also present. The initiative proved to be a meaningful experience, helping students understand public safety and their social responsibilities.
